Pakistan has test-fired its first submarine-launched cruise missile Babur-III, capable of carrying a nuclear warhead and the country’s military says it gives them a credible second strike capability, the country’s military says.
Pakistani missile is named Babur (Urdu for Tiger) and has range of 280 miles
It can carry a nuclear warhead and would allow them to strike back at India
Tension between Pakistan and India has been rising after clashes in Kashmir
The military said in a statement on January 9 that the missile was fired from the Indian Ocean and hit its target.
The missile was fired from an underwater mobile platform and hit its target with precise accuracy, said Pakistan’s military spokesman. He confirmed the missile, with a range of 280 miles, could carry a nuclear warhead.
“Babur-3…in land-attack mode is capable of delivering various types of payloads and will provide Pakistan with a credible second strike capability, augmenting deterrence,” the statement said.
“While the pursuit and now the successful attainment of a second strike capability by Pakistan represents a major scientific milestone, it is manifestation of the strategy of measured response to nuclear strategies and postures being adopted in Pakistan’s neighbourhood,” it added.
Footage posted on Twitter by military spokesman Maj Gen Asif Ghafoor showed the missile emerging from the water and cruising over land before hitting a target on land.
Though the military did not give details, reports have suggested that the Pakistan Navy’s Agosta 90B class submarines have been configured to launch cruise missiles.
Pakistan’s launch of Babur-III comes after India tested its intercontinental Agni-V ballistic missile in December. Analysts say Pakistan has been working on its second-strike capability for some time, so the timing may not have been affected by India’s launch.

US sanctions against Pakistan
Last month, the US government had placed sanctions against seven Pakistani entities allegedly associated with the country’s missile programme. The move came about on December 15, 2016, when an unexpected notification by the US Department of Commerce named the entities and added them to the Export Administration Regulations list, saying “these government, parastatal and private entities in Pakistan are determined to be involved in activities that are contrary to the national security and/or foreign policy of the United States.”
All seven have been placed on the entity list under the destination of Pakistan. They are identified as:
(1) Ahad International Suite.
(2) Air Weapons Complex (AWC).
(3) Engineering Solutions Pvt. Ltd.
(4) Maritime Technology Complex (MTC).
(5) National Engineering and Scientific Commission (NESCOM).
Russian hacker attacks: So, news networks who need b-roll footage to show while they’re talking about hacking usually just show keyboards or random strings of letters and numbers, while the audience stares blindly at the screen, assuming that whatever they’re looking at is somehow related to the topic. Or, if you’re CNN, you steal footage from one of the most popular video games of the year and hope that nobody watching will recognize it.
In a recent story about President Obama proposing sanctions against Russia for its roll in cyberattacks targeting the United States, CNN grabbed a screenshot of the hacking mini-game from the extremely popular RPG Fallout 4. First spotted by Reddit, the screenshot shows the menacing neon green letters that gamers will instantly recognize as being from the game.
In Fallout 4 — as well as Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas — the player can hack computers to gain information or unlock doors and safes. It’s performed like a word puzzle, where the player has to find a specific word in a huge mess of letters and random characters. It’s simple but fun, but it has absolutely nothing in common with actual hacking, which is what makes it perfect for mainstream news viewers.
“If you want to talk about hacking on a major news network, your choices are either that or a scene from The Matrix,” one Reddit user sums it up. Sadly, they’re absolutely right.
The Quadrantid meteor shower, which also boasts of being one of the best meteor showers, is about to peak overnight on the 3rd and 4th of January, depending on where you are in the world.
Quadrantids Meteor Shower. The Quadrantids is an above average shower, with up to 40 meteors per hour at its peak. It is thought to be produced by dust grains left behind by an extinct comet known as 2003 EH1, which was discovered in 2003. The shower runs annually from January 1-5. It peaks this year on the night of the 3rd and morning of the 4th. The first quarter moon will set shortly after midnight leaving fairly dark skies for what could be a good show. Best viewing will be from a dark location after midnight. Meteors will radiate from the constellation Bootes, but can appear anywhere in the sky.
The annual meteor shower is thought to be triggered by the Earth passing through the tail of rubble that follows behind the small solar system body 2003 EH1.
As these little pieces of debris and space dust burn up in the Earth’s atmosphere, they cause spectacular shooting stars – up to 100 every hour.
Since the Moon is a waxing crescent and only partially illuminated right now, it will be brighter and better this time. But unlike other meteors, the Quadrantids only has a peak viewing window of around 2 hours, and it’s not entirely predictable when it’ll occur.
So you’ll have to watch out for it. The best estimate is that the peak will occur around January 3, 14:00 UTC.
Go out tonight! The Universe has put up quite a show!
A trainer required treatment Tuesday after being clawed on the legs by a tiger as children watched at a Florida fair.
Pensacola Interstate Fair publicist Katie King told the Pensacola News Journal that Vicenta Pages suffered several claw cuts when a 2-year-old Bengal tiger named Gandhi clawed her legs.

In the video, recorded by Scott Caputo’s daughter, Pages kept saying, “Ghandi, Ghandi, no!”. Pages and the other animal handler and co-owner of the show, David Donnert, struck Ghandi multiple times in attempts to free the woman.

Animal Control wasn’t called after the attack, and King said the tiger won’t be harmed.

Consumption of more than two sugary drinks per day significantly increases the risk of diabetes and no matter whether in the case of drinks containing sugar or artificial sweeteners.
According to a research of Swedish researchers at the Karolinska Institute, which showed that those who consumed more than two 200 ml units of sweet drinks a day doubled the risk of diabetes Type 2. The consumption of five units of sweet drink daily more than tenfold risk.
Reference: Type 2 diabetes occurs when the body doesn’t produce enough insulin to function properly, or the body’s cells don’t react to insulin.
Consumption of soft drinks also increases the risk of a less common form of diabetes in adults, so Beckons diabetes that shares symptoms with type 1 diabetes, is an autoimmune disease and type 2 diabetes is a lifestyle disease.
The scientists studied the soft drinks with 2,874 adults and compared the development of diabetes. “We were surprised to see an increased risk of developing autoimmune diabetes along with soft drinks. Next we will examine how to reduce this risk, for example, the consumption of oily fish, “the British newspaper Guardian by dr. Josif Edwar Lofvenborg the investigation.
“We are looking at this now by using statistics from eight different countries across Europe.”
“The consumption of soft drinks may increase the risk of both diabetes and Lada 2 diabetes by affecting insulin sensitivity and glucose metabolism,” the researchers findings published in fagtímaritinu European Journal of Endocrinology.
It is estimated that one of every 11 persons in the world is diabetes.
Clean drinking water is a big problem in many parts of the world. And Clear Water mining from contaminated water is a difficult task but sometimes it is not even possible because there is not available.
Nevertheless, in principle, Water is always nearby. But water is in the air as vapor. For example, Turn air conditioning on and you will see how a water leak. When air is cooled, the water content is reduced. Catch up water and you will have fresh drinking water.
Air conditioning is not very effective when it comes to the extraction of water. Cody Friesen of Arizona State University in the USA and CEO of Zero Mass Water thought about how to do it more efficiently. He devised a system that absorbs water from the air like a sponge. It can be compared with a piece of sugar, which absorbs water from the air. Thereafter, the adsorbed water removed from the sponge and evaporates, leaving you with very pure water. The next step, the water enriched in magnesium and calcium and it is ready for use.
The device of Zero Mass Water can provide enough water for daily drinking and cooking for a family with two children. It technology also can be useful for a hospitals. All you need is the air and the sun …
Is this technology affordable?
The information about this device is already on the Zero Mass Water`s website. The company has already tested the device in a slums too, but it is not for sale yet. It seems a wonderful green technology, and a brilliant use of solar energy.
The question: How many residents of poor neighborhoods will be able to buy this device soon…
